Just a quick update to say that I will be conducting a photoshoot with a friend to be a willing model for the magazine. Jamie Brown, playing Noah Brown in the magazine, will be the model for the magazine and we have decided to go to a woodlands in Essex (where he lives) to capture some shots of him and his guitar to feature in my magazine product.
The location is very promising and features an old, abandoned well which dates back to 18th century use. The well, apparently, is a spectacular place to capture some nice shots, so I hope for good weather in order to aid the photoshoot to be a success.
Concerning costume, I have asked Jamie to wear a 'hipster/indie' style t-shirt and suiting jeans to suit the magazine genre.
I have arranged with him to meet on March 14th for the weekend to capture various shots at this promising location and am looking forward to getting some shots to get the 'ball rolling' with the production of the magazine.

Planning: Other Feature Ideas for the Front Cover
I have started to plan other features for the front cover that show what will be covered in the magazine.
The following are what I have added:
The following are what I have added:
- The main feature name of the front cover artist and quote from the artist. The text I have added matches the magazine house font style and conforms to the black and white theme. I have used italics for the quote to make it stand out and give the text some relevance for quotation.
- Footer news board - includes the text 'new exclusive photos' which is separated by the subsequent text 'Acoustic Madness' by a '|' which is common in magazine format.
- A festival logo that I found on the internet. However, for it to fit with the rest of the magazines house style, I had to make the background transparent, the text a different colour and the removal of a few unnecessary objects (stars and hearts), as you can see in comparison of the two images below

Planning: Ideas and Names for the magazine, plus Contents Idea
Following on from my previous post, I have made the beginning of my Contents page in relation to the development and construction of my (planning stage of the) product.
Planning: Ideas and Names for the magazine, plus Front Cover Idea
I have now gathered some ideas through the use of the software of 'LucidPress'. This piece of software is a free, online magazine specialist software that has just came to light when I was weighing up the alternatives with which software to use when designing my product.
Here is a preview of initial planning with the software. The image you are seeing is the beginning ideas of my front cover that I was testing when discovering the software:
As you can see by the image attached, I have decided on an initial name for the magazine; 'Woodhouse." I feel this name would be suit the style of the magazine at which I set - folk/acoustic magazine. The 'wood' part of the name I feel adds warmth to the magazine image as a whole.
I have a vision of a male with an acoustic guitar, next to a camp fire in the woods. I would have loved to have this scene as the setting for my front cover; however, the planning photo used in the example is set in America somewhere (ah no!). So, I hope to replicate what I have created in this image next weekend (15.03.14).

Planning: Initial Ideas of setting of photoshoot
Below are a few shots of the woods near my school which has inspired me to shoot photos in a woods location for my magazine. I plan tomorrow to produce a rough (initial) magazine with an image I can find on the internet.

Preliminary Material: Initial Ideas
Now my research has been completed, I am now starting to plan and produce a school magazine that is used as preliminary material.
I have gathered some ideas for my preliminary material:
Firstly, I am going to go round my school and take photos using a DSLR camera that will capture some school-related stories to go into my magazine. Predominantly, the images will be used for the contents page. I plan to use several images I capture to tell the reader visually what will be in this issue, and these images will have a number placed on the image to inform the reader of what number page this story/article this will be in the magazine.
I feel that I should base my magazine around the news of the 'new head boy' and ''changes to the refectory' - as there have been in our school. I feel that having a enlarged portrait mid shot of either of the two topics will be the best layout/style for the front cover.
The contents page, I feel, should have several images placed (as stated previously), and then a boxed-off section where there is a description of what is in the magazine - as typically what the contents page does (aha!).
